Fiona Smith is an environmental planner in the Environment and Heritage Division of Parks Victoria. Fiona is currently working on planning for the establishment of the Western Grassland Reserves, a new grassland park which will connect the You Yangs area to the Werribee River across the Volcanic Plains west of Melbourne.
I guess that I have always wanted to, and have been lucky enough to be able to, work in environmental management. When I first started as a Park Ranger I worked in a coastal environment then was lucky enough to get a job working in the Western Plains grasslands and I have spent the last 15 years working in and around grasslands. Although in my current role I don’t get to spend as much time out in the grasslands as I would like, I am still working every day with interesting people and on interesting things relating to grasslands.
