Fiona Smith is an environmental planner in the Environment and Heritage Division of Parks Victoria. Fiona is currently working on planning for the establishment of the Western Grassland Reserves, a new grassland park which will connect the You Yangs area to the Werribee River across the Volcanic Plains west of Melbourne.

I am interested in all grassland species but I guess I am particularly interested in some of the endangered fauna species such as Golden Sun Moths, Eastern Barred Bandicoots and Striped Legless Lizards. I think I am particularly interested in these species because I studied zoology at university so fauna is my thing. However, the animals of the Western Volcanic Plains grasslands are very cryptic so you don’t often get to see them, so luckily I also really like many of the flora species with my favourites being Blue Devils, Showy Podolepis and Lemon Beauty Heads.
