Identifying Characteristics

Aquatic or semi-aquatic plant to 60 cm tall. Stem nodes are often hairy. Leaves pointed, blades flat to 20 cm long and 7 mm wide. Inflorescences are forked, with 2 narrow spikes each about 4-6 cm long. Flowers February-May.
