Identifying Characteristics

Small, delicate looking grass to 40 cm tall. Leaves short, greyish, inrolled. Flower heads are loose, open branches. Flowers in spring.

Distinctive Features

Leaves quickly dry to brown. Similar in appearance to, but smaller than, Agrostis avenacea, which has only one floret per flowering unit (spikelet).
