Identifying Characteristics

A medium herb with stems up to 2.7 m in length. Leaves are thick and leathery and held on long stalks. Non-submerged floating leaves are oval in shape, 1.5-10 cm long and 2.5 cm wide. Submerged leaves are thin and narrow, 5-23 cm in length. The inflorescence comprises 12-20 flowers arranged in a short dense spike. The infructescence is 1.5-4.5 cm long.
