Identifying Characteristics

Flower stem to 1.2 m tall, usually branched. Several deep pink or mauve flowers which are solitary in bract axils. Petals and sepals to 14 mm long. Flowers October-December.

Distinctive Features

Single flowers arise from bract axils. Flowers are usually erect with a chocolate scent.

Occurs in grassy plains and woodlands thoughout much of Victoria, although rare in the mallee and absent from the alps and the far east. Also found in South Australia, New South Wales and Tasmania.
