Identifying Characteristics

A tufted grass to 70 cm. The inflorescence is an open panicle to 25 cm long. Flowers in November.

Distinctive Features

This plant can be a tuft consisting of one flowering stalk with a few leaf blades, or a tussock with over 50 flowering stalks. The seed heads become brittle, break off and blow away in the wind.
