Neville Walsh is Senior Conservation Botanist at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne. His work involves both plant identification and classification, and, conservation. Neville's roles include naming and describing new plant species and investigating how rare species can be conserved.

One of the plant groups that I have most experience with is grasses – they’re obviously a very important part of grasslands, but often a group that people find difficult to identify. I’ve also been involved with a very rare shrub of the grasslands – the Spiny Rice-flower – which has been particularly affected by development as Melbourne grows outward.
