Learning Objects

Biodiversity of the Western Volcanic Plains will consist of seven interactive learning objects, which are fully supported by student and teacher resources. Each learning object will become available as soon as it is completed. The first learning object to be developed, the Biodiversity of the Western Volcanic Plains Flora and Fauna Field Guide will enable students, teachers and community members to identify and map a range of grassland flora and fauna species. All sightings, mapped using your mobile device or via the web, once approved, will be available via this website.


The second learning object, Quadrats Online, enables students, teachers and community members to submit and view quadrats.

The third learning object, Grassland Foodwebs, enables students, teachers and community members to investigate the prey/predator relationship between various species.

The fourth learning object, Managing Grasslands, enables students, teachers and community members to return a degraded virtual grassland site to a high quality virtual grassland.

The fifth learning object, Talk with the Experts, enables students, teachers and community members to investigate grassland management by participating in an interview with four grassland ‘experts’.

The sixth learning object, Virtual Tour, enables students, teachers and community members to take a virtual tour of the Mt Rothwell Biodiversity Interpretation Centre.

The seventh learning object, Interactive Quiz, enables students, teachers and community members to is designed to test your knowledge and understanding of aspects of each of the BWVP learning objects in the form of multiple quizzes inspired by them.
