How does your role enable you to improve current knowledge and understanding of grassland ecosystems?

For the Spiny Rice-flower, our Recovery Team has produced fact sheets and guidelines on the best way to protect and conserve plants, to move them from sites where they’re going to be destroyed to safe sites, and to grow new plants and introduce them into new sites. And, we produce guides to the identification of grasses and other plants that occur in grasslands. I make trips into the grasslands from time to time and I collect specimens that I press and add to the herbarium’s pressed plant collection. Over time, these specimens help us appreciate the variation in these plants and where their natural distribution is, or at least where it was.
