How does your role enable you to improve current knowledge and understanding of grassland ecosystems?

I am lucky enough to work with a lot of people with knowledge and expertise in grasslands with whom I can both learn from and share what I know about grasslands. Also when we undertake management actions in a grassland such as burning, weed control or grazing, we monitor the outcomes so that we can make changes to the way we manage grassland sites. This is called adaptive management. Sometimes this is done very formally with research scientists and scientific monitoring techniques and sometimes it is just a matter of recording your actions and having a look at the grassland site to assess how you think it is going.
