Identifying Characteristics

Medium-sized tree, 10-25 m tall. Long ascending branches forming a fairly large crown. Adult leaves are tapered at each end, but broad through the middle, 9-15 cm long and 1-2.5 cm wide, glossy green or grey-green in colour. Juvenile leaves are narrow or oval in shape. Four to eight buds per cluster, with conical caps, 3-5 mm long often with ridges and bent tips. Flowers February-July. Fruit is variable, 3-5 mm wide.

Distinctive Features

Bark is grey and scaly on trunk and large branches. Bark is pale, smooth and ribbony on smaller branches.
