How important are remnant grasslands and how should they be managed?

Remnants are very important – in many cases it’s really all we have to remind us of what used to be one of the commonest plant communities in Victoria. It doesn’t take much imagination to think of all the plants, insects, birds, reptiles and mammals that have been lost that once formed part of this community. It’s through our – that is non-aboriginal people’s – actions that this loss has happened. I think that we have a responsibility to make sure no more loss happens, and if anything, we should start to try to turn around the situation and increase, rather than decrease the amount of grasslands left in Victoria.
